Autumn Coast Road 5K - New Marske - 3rd September
Young Jimmy Askew ran well in the Autumn Coast Road 5k finishing 15th in a time of 17.37.
Castleton Show 10K -
On Saturday Three more Aycliffe runners decided on the Castleton Show run for a challenge, The 10k event is described as fell run on the roads takes place in picturesque Esk valley, The race route traverses minor roads via the ford at hob hole and the village of Westerdale.
First back for the club in 13th place was Martin Randall, time 43.28. less than 3 mins behind Julia Atkinson-Tait who finished in 21st place and 3rd lady in a time of 46.13, finally Trish Kay who said it was one of the most enjoyable races she had ever done finished in a very good 53.00mins.
Paras 10 mile Multi-Terrain Challenge
Three Aycliffe runners took part in this gruelling Challenge held around the moors above Catterick Garrison. Andrew Robertson who comes from Chester-le-street was 1st back for the club in 37th place and 73.28, then John Edmondson who loves a challenge finished in 64th, time 76.17, finally John Young finished in 138th, time 85.07.
Billingham 10K -
On the same day Four Aycliffe runners chose the shorter Billingham 10K. First back for the club was the very keen Richard Campbell just failing to break 40mins in a good 28th place, time 40.10, next road runner Dave Mackenzie back in 48.14 and only 5 seconds off his best time this year on the much flatter Croft course, then Ray Todd back in 51.12 and 4th over 70 finisher, finally Paul Musgrave returned in 63.57.
Nottingham Marathon -
Caroline Holmes from Bishop Auckland took part in the Nottingham Marathon last Sunday and finished in a very good pb time of 3hrs 51mins 22 secs, this was Caroline's second Marathon this year.
Middlesbrough Tees Pride 10K -
In this very popular race 7 Aycliffe runners lined up with 2238 competitors on the flat urban course. 1st back for the club was promising 18 year old James Askew in a superb pb time of 35.30 and 32nd position, this will give him confidence for this Sunday's Great North Run after improving gradually over the summer. Over 45 Veteran flyer Floyd Jones finished in 36.46 and 5th in his category, next still in the O/45s was Peter Milburn in 37.21 and 6th in category. Then Aycliffe's newest member to join the quartet and finish under 40 mins was Ross Newton (carrying an injury) who did very well to record 39.37. Susan Milburn had a very strong run to finish in 44.38 and 2nd lady over 50, next determined Trish Kay also had a strong run to finish in a pb of 46.48, then Dave Mackenzie finished in 47.03 his best time for 5 years, finally Caroline Holmes finished in 47.18.
Tees Forest Trail Race - Wynyard Park -
In the last of the current series five Aycliffe runners took part. First back was George Reid who had a very good run to finish in 41.45, next the enthusiastic Richard Campbell in 42.10, then the very keen Danny Inglis in 43.40, Susan Milburn finished in 46.44 and was 3rd lady, finally Georgette Reid on her 1st long distance outing this year finished in 51 mins approx.
