Keswick Half Marathon - 4th May
Trish Kay finished in 1.51.07
Tees Barrage 10k - 5th May
On Monday May the 5th, ten Aycliffe runners made the short trip to Stockton for the Tees Barrage 10k held along the riverside. First back was club captain Martin Randall coming home in a pb of 38.13 and 22nd position, then Peter Milburn finishing in 39.10 and 28th place, just behind new recruit Ross Newton and showing promise finished in 40.17, next youngster Richard Campbell returning in 42.30 and 59 place, club coach and over 50 vet. George Reid had a good run to finish in 3rd pace for his category, time 42.56, David White also had a good run to finish 4th in his category time 43.50, John Edmondson finished in 44.55, Sue Milburn celebrated her 50th birthday by returning in a good time of 45.45 and was 3rd lady in the over 45 section, John Young took a tumble in his stride to finish in 47.55, finally Stuart Campbell finished in 55.15. The race had 424 finishers.
Tees Forest 5k trail race - Preston Park - 15th May
Youngster James Askew had a good run to finish in 10th spot and was 1st Junior in a time of 18.06, next Richard Campbell ran well to finish in 21st place, time 19.04, another Aycliffe junior Daniel Inglis also had a good race to finish in 29th place, time 19.28, then not far behind 52 year old George Reid finished in 19.45, David White finished in 21.41, next Roslyn McConnell taking part in her 1st race of the season finished in a good 21.42, finally Stuart Campbell finished in 25.14.
Pier to Pier Multi terrain race held between South Shields and Sunderland - 18th May
18 Aycliffe runners took part in this big event which attracted 1000 entries and has a mixture of cliff top paths and beaches, The Course suited Club Captain Martin Randall finishing well up the field in 20th place, time 42.31, then Peter Milburn finished in 53rd place, time 45.06, next new recruit Ross Newton finished in 79th place, time 46.36, Julia Atkinso-Tait was 1st over 35 lady finishing in 49.16, then Susan Milburn finished in 51.43 and 3rd over 45, Janet Raper finished in 52.18 aprox, next Ian Wade finished in 52.54, Andrew Robertson finished in 53.12, then Janet McRae finished in 54.06, John Young finished in 54.52, super fit Trish Kay ran round in 55.32, Chris Forster finished in 55.36, Linda Connelly ran well in to break the hour in 59.17, just on the hour Francine Vollans, then Super vet Dave Mackenzie finished in 60.41, next Club Chairman Dave McDonald finished in 65.55, Gail Vernon finished in 67.03, finally Paul Musgrave finished in 74.48.
Newby Hall 10k at Ripon - 18th May
John Edmondson travelled to North Yorkshire for the Newby Hall 10K and finished in 45.38.
Darlington Triathlon - 19th May
Meanwhile in this event the young and the old of N.A.A.C had a close race with Simon Robinson just edging it in 1.44.41, followed by the younger Georgette Reid in 1.45.03.
NE Vets. League - Jarrow - 20th May
Richard Harvey won the the over 65 vets 1500 metres race held at Jarrow on the 20th May. This is Richard's first track race of the season and had a fantastic run to record 5.34.06, placing him well up in the British rankings.
Raby Castle 10K - 25th May
8 Aycliffe runners took part. First home, 18 year old James Askew in 27th place, got his tactics spot on to record a PB of 38.44, next Martin Randall in 32nd place in 39.20. Simon Robinson in 47.39 a good time for this course with 2 laps of the hills, next was Trish Kay in yet another event in 50mins, followed by Janet McRae in 50.03. Next home and getting fitter was Dave Mackenzie in 53.02, next Chris Forster in 53.50, and finally Paul Musgrave in 65.06.,
In the fun run first home for the club was junior Daniel Inglis in 6th place in a good time of 21.20, followed by Lynn Gibson with a race come back in 30.38.
Edinburgh Marathon - 25th May
On the 25th May in the Edinburgh Marathon, Caroline Holmes did an excellent debut time in 3.53.03.
Puma Garburn Trail Race - 25th May
Meanwhile over at the lake district on Saturday 31st May on a red hot day, two runners from Aycliffe took part in the Puma Garburn Trail Race, held over 15 torturous miles with surprises around every corner. First back in 37th place out of 800 runners was Peter Milbun in 2hrs 01.14 just holding off Tony Audenshaw (Emmerdale's Bob Hope). Next Susan Milburn had an excellent run to record 2hrs 28.11 and was 3rd lady 050.
