NE Vets. League - Jarrow - 3rd June
Super Vet Richard Harvey took part in the 2nd north east vets track meeting and won 2 races in one night. First the 065 800metres in 2.43.1 his fastest time for 4 yrs, then in the 065 3k Richard was first again in 12.04.1 again his fastest for three years.

Tees Forest Trail Race - Acklam - 12th June
5 aycliffe runners went to Acklam for the 3rd Tees Forest 5kTrail Race. 1st back was James Askew in 17.48 and 8th place, followed by regular racer Peter Milburn in 21st place in 19.19.  Next Richard Campbell in 19.42, then David White in 21.54, followed by Sue Milburn in 22.16, who was also 1st over 50 lady.

Swaledale Marathon - 14th June
The Swaledale Marathon passes though some of the most picturesque scenery in the Yorkshire Dales,  The 23 mile course is Trail runners/challenge walk event and participants have to navigate themselves round the course with numerous checkpoints including bridleways,sheep tracks on open Moorland with the occasional bit of road within 10 hrs.
15 Aycliffe runners took part along with 452 competitors in very favourable conditions.  First back for the club was club captain Martin Randall in a superb 12th place he also beat his time from last year by 27 mins to record 3hrs 40mins.  Next  founder member John Burnside who knows the course like the back of his hand had a very good run to finish in 50th spot, time 4hrs 11mins. John has run for the club for the past 25 years. Next Mick Beadle in 63rd place, time 4hrs 21mins just in front of the very experienced John Edmondson in 67th place time again in 4hrs 21. Top Aycliffe female long distance specialist Denise Hall  finished well in 4hrs 27, Janet Raper also had a strong run to record 4hrs 33, next Kevin Greenall in 4hrs 47, then  club newcomer Stuart Vernon in 4hrs 49.  Linda Connelly  who normally runs on  road enjoyed her experience to finish under 5hrs in 4hrs 58, next Janet McRae in 5hrs 01, then Super veteran Ray Todd made his debut for the event finishing in a fantastic 5hrs 05, next Martyn Knox in  5hrs 13, improving Gail Vernon sliced 1hr from last years time to finish in 5hrs 32, then another founder member Rob Nicholson who has also run 25 years for the club finished in 5hrs 39, finally  Suzanne Carver in 5hrs 47.


Newton Aycliffe 10k and Fun Run - 15th June
Over 600 runners took part in both races. 1st NAAC runner back in the fun run in 2nd place overall was Daniel Inglis returning in an impressive 12.07 for the 2 mile event, next in 5th place ever improving William Crossen finished in 12.50, Simon Kestle came home in 18.44 followed by Rebecca Butterfield in 21.28 then her mum Claire in 21.31.  New member Julie Stoddart ran her first event in 21.34, followed by another new member Kay Reid in 22.04.

Meanwhile in our own 10k (event where the majority of members were on marshalling duties), first home for the club in an excellent PB time was James Askew in 18th place in 37.02.
Next was Andrew Robertson in 46.21, followed close behind by Simon Robinson in 46.30.  Paul Barron ran in 50.07, followed by Dennis Kerr in 52.35

Newburn River Run - 18th June
Four runners travelled to Newburn in the west end of Newcastle to run the 6.6mile river run under stormy skies on 18th June at 7.30pm.  First home in a good time was Peter Milburn in 40.40, followed by John Edmondson in 47.31, then Sue Milburn who battled it out for 2nd 050 in 47.46, followed closely by David White in 47.52.

New Marske 5k - 25th June
Aycliffe had 3 runners competing, first back young James Askew had another quick run to come back in 12th place and a pb time of 17.25.  Next Richard Campbell in 51st place. in 19.41, next feeling the effects of his recent holiday George Reid finished in 20.36

DFR Hamsterley Forest Handicap
Stewart Vernon ran well to finish in 25th place, time 65.14

North East Vets Track Championships - Jarrow - 28th June
Track specialist Richard Harvey had another successful afternoon winning not 1 but 4 races  in the over 65s categories his victories were in the 400m/800m/1500m and 5000m.

Beamish multi-terrain 10k - 29th June
This event saw 7 of the clubs runners taking part. The event had the challenge of  the 180 competitors trying to keep up with the tram bus for the first 2 miles of the course - only the
 
first couple of runners could manage to keep in front of the ancient tram as it hurtled round the course. First to finish in this superbly organised event for the club was Peter Milburn in 10th spot, time 40.04, next, feeling the  effects of the recent Swaledale Marathon, Martin Randall finished in 14th place, time 41.14.  Susan Milburn was pleased with her run to finish in 47.10 and 2nd over 35 lady, next Janet Raper also had a strong run to finish in 48.01 and 3rd lady over 35, then Trish Kay ran well to finish in 50.03.  Janet McRae finished in 50.30, and finally Chris Forster finished in 53.33.

Humber Bridge Half Marathon - 29th June
Dave Mackenzie ran well on the hilly course to finish in 559th place out of 1445 finishers and was pleased with his time of 1.53.20.
