Inter County Cross Country Championships - Meadowfield, Durham - 6th February.
The hard course was made even more difficult due to foggy conditions at Meadowfield. Henry Johnson (u/13) ran well, improving his time from the previous week, and came home in 8.28, in a marvellous third place. Daniel Inglis competed at the same venue in the intermediate boys section. He was pleased with his performance over the 3 lap event, and improved his own time for that course by 20 seconds and finished in the middle of the pack.
NYSD X/C League - Acklam Grange - 7th February
A superb run from James Askew who came 6th just behind Gary Grounds. At the other end of the race there was an epic battle between Kevin Greenall and Colin Gibson; Colin won, Kevin's knee hurt, he think he may have had a virus, he wasn't sure of the course, can't think of any more. (how many more do you need!!)
St Wilfred`s Muddy Boots 10k - 7th February
3 members of the club went down to Ripon to take part in this event . The run itself proved aptly named in those sections which were off road . Janet McRae found the going more to her liking than her previous run at Jolly Holly . She finished in a time of 50 - 16 In the race rivalry between Chris Forster and John Young Chris finished in 52-41 with John close behind in 53-07.
Absent Friends Trail Race - Cowpen Bewley,Billingham - 14th February
On a sunny but cold day Aycliffe had 5 runners out of 156 finishers. First back for the club in a very good 4th place was James Askew, just missing out on a 3rd place podium in an exciting sprint finish. James finished the mud bound course in 29.15. next in 17th place Peter Milburn come home in 33.29, then his wife Susan ran well to cross the line in 39.41 and 1st 0/45 lady. Sharon Towns turned up for her first race of the season and ran a good race to finish in 44.28, next Pat Edwards took the over 55 ladies crown in 47.05.
North-East Harrier League - South Shields - 20th February
Henry Johnson and William Crossen ventured out to the North East Harrier league event on 20th February. The course at Temple Park, South Shields, was cold and snow covered. Henry (U13) set off with the fast pack and he finished the one lap course in 13.33 William (U15) attacked the same route and gave an excellent run, finishing very strongly in 12th position.
Old Monks 6 Multi-Terrain Hart - 21st February
First two back for the club were Kevin Greenall in 45th place and a good time of 42.47, and Pat Edwards who battled round in 88th position in 51.00 mins.
