Muddy Boots Fun run - Ripon
Under-11 Henry Johnson ran brilliantly in the snow at St Wilfred's in Ripon to win the 1-mile fun run in under 6 minutes. Henry explained his tactics were to stay close with the leaders until 300 metres before the finish and then sprint to the line. His perfect timing earned him a 17 second lead over the second finisher.
Muddy Boots 10K - Ripon
The scenic multi-terrain 10k "Muddy Boots" race might have been better named "Snowy Shoes". Stepping on the frozen puddles sometimes resulted in splashing into ankle-deep puddles when the thin covering gave way under foot. None of this deterred the seven senior club members, including Henry's mother Penny, from enjoying a glistening run in bright winter sunshine. Peter Milburn was first club member back in 12th position overall out of 304 finishers. Martin Randall and Julia Atkinson-Tait were the next two to finish. Susan Milburn and John Edmondson crossed the line at the same time followed by John Young and then proud mother Penny.
