NYSD X/C - Summerhill - 6th December
A poor turn-out.
Penny Johnson represented us in the Ladies' race, finishing 36th, and the Men's race saw just 3 NAAC members - Richard Campbell in 49th place, George Reid in 58th and Rob Nicholson in 94th.
N/E  X/C Championships - Darlington - 12th December
This event draws talented runners from far and wide, and the day did not disappoint. The field was strong and the course was muddy, but Henry Johnson made his debut in the U13 event a moment to be proud of. Only 11 years old, he was running against athletes who were more experienced and older. However, sticking with the lead pack meant that he completed the 3k course only 1 minute behind the winner, and in 8th place with 12.58.
The U15 4k race gave strong competition for the more experienced runners, William Crossen and Ryan Walton. They ran extremely well, despite the tough conditions. Ryan was close on the heals of older boy William, and they both finished with very little breath left! A tremendous sprint finish for Ryan gave him 13th position with 15.01, but just in the lead was William with 9th place in 14.54.
U20 was a longer course of 8.3k, and James Askew took the distance in his stride. He seemed to slice through the mud with ease to bring himself home in 11th place with 30.50.
Penny Johnson was our sole representative in the Ladies' events, finishing a creditable 68th in tough conditions.
We had three entrants in the senior men's event, with Richard Campbell and George Reid finishing just 3 secs. apart in 133rd and 134th positions. Ever-present Kevin Greenall completed our trio in 227th place.
Jolly Hog Run - Ripon - 28th December
The Jolly Holly Jog at Ripon on Monday 28th Dec. had 441 finishers returning on the treacherous and snowbound course, Martin Randall made light work on the black ice and skating rink like conditions running very well to finish in 15th spot, time 43.16, next just managing to stay on his feet Peter Milburn in 20th, time 44.05,(2nd O/50 vet.)
Susan Milburn made a return to her 1st race for 2 months finishing in 54.29
(132nd and 1st O/50 vet.) Brave Janet Raper crossed the line with Susan
