Darkington 10K - 9th August
A good turn-out saw 11 club athletes in the Darlington 10K. James Askew produced a pb of 35.13 to lead his team-mates home in 16th place, followed by Julia Atkinson-Tait, John Burnside, Simon Robinson, John Young, Patrick Robson, Trish Kay, David Mackenzie, Penny Johnson, Pat Edwards and Catherine Lowden.
Darlington Junior 3K - 9th August
William Crossen (14yrs) and Henry Johnson (11 yrs) were in a strong field of runners, many of whom seemed fast approaching the upper age range. However, despite blazing temperatures,
the two boys stormed around the road race with both gaining PB times. William came second with 10.15, only 3 secs behind the leader, and Henry came 14th with 12.22.
Tees Forest Trail Race - Coulby Newham - 20th August
Seven Newton Aycliffe runners turned out for the final race in the series at Coulby Newham. This was a handicap and the placings were as follows-
Ray Todd 20th 24-27 James Askew 26th 17-48 Jane Heron 38th 29-15 Margaret Greenall 45th 27-52 Kevin Greenall 58th 22-25 Mathew Heron 61st 20-20 Daniel Inglis 75th 20-17
Prize winners in the series were-
James Askew 1st MJ, Daniel Inglis 2ndMJ, George Reid 1st M50, Kevin Greenall 4th M55, Ray Todd 2nd M70, Margaret Greenall 3rd F50.
Billingham 10K - 23rd August
James Askew (36:04) was first member home, in an excellent 14th place, followed by our two 50+ competitors, George Reid (40:46) and John Edmondson (45:33). Barry Geldard (47:24) broke the 48 minute barrier comfortably, with Trish Kay (50:16) and Penny Johnson leading the ladies home. Supervet Ray Todd (52:32) finished next, with Vicky Postle (58:55), Tracey Mckern (59:46) and Indira Hesketh (62:35) completing our ten.
Bellingham 4 mile Trail Race - 31st August
Susan Milburn competed in this very tough race and finished 54th , and first lady o/50, in 48.47.
