Ray Todd wins the over 70s category in the Sedgefield Trail Race
Sedgefield Serpentine Trail Race - 9th August
On Saturday the 9th of August Ray Todd was the 1st over 70 runner at the recent Sedgefield Serpentine trail race. Ray, who has run for the club since the early 80s, is enjoying his off road races these days, Janet  Raper was the 1st lady back for the club in 51.22. Other Aycliffe runners taking part were Stuart Vernon, Janet McRae, John Young and Chris Forster who all ran well round the scenic  6.8 mile off road loop.

Darlington 10K - 10th August
The next day in the 21st Darlington 10k eleven Aycliffe runners made it to the congested start,  Out of the 900 starters James Askew had another outstanding run to finish in pb time of 36.31 and 30th overall, not far behind Floyd Jones was working flat out to catch James and eventually finished in 36.52 and 34th position, next Peter Miburn in 38.09 and in 43rd place, then  Mick O'Sullivan using the race for his build up to the Athens Marathon finished in 40.29.  Top Aycliffe lady Julia Atkinson-Tait led the ladies team to 3rd, finished as 1st over 40  finishing in 41.19, next  Andrew Robertson  in a pb  of 44.29, John Edmondson  finished in 46.08, Caroline Holmes in fancy dress finished in  48.09, then keen Trish Kay  ran a good race to finish in  48.45 and 2nd O/45.  Dave Thompson from Gateshead had a good run to finish in 53.41, finally Julie Stoddart crossed the finish in 1.04.36.
In the Darlington Junior 3k event fast improving  Daniel Inglis finished in 3rd place.

NE Vets League - Jarrow - 4th August
Super Vet Richard Harvey  won the 0/65s 5K event in 21.23.

Tyneside Track League -
Top Aycliffe male distance runner James Askew recorded a pb time of 9.38 in the 3K..

Burnsall 10 mile Road Race -
John Edmondson finished in 74th place - time 1.16.47

Tees Forest Trail Race - Summerhill - 21st August
James Askew was 1st Junior male yet again in 11th place overall time 19.45,  The enthusiastic teenager has won his age group in the series and now looks forward to the Cross Country season.  Next Martin Turnbull on the comeback trail finished in 29th place, time 21.45, with uncle George Reid just behind in 21.54, George finished 2nd O/50 male overall in the series.  Daniel Ingliss another promising junior also ran well to finish in  32nd, time 21.57, Danny finished 3rd overall in the Junior male category, then finally Ray Todd in 66th place who was also 2nd overall in his age group.

Hamsterley Forest 7 Mile Fell Race Handicap - 24th August
Durham Fell Runners hosted the final Hamsterley Forest Handicap 7 mile  fell race on the 24th of August.  The route utilises the hilly terrain round the moors and woods, Peter Milburn finished in 4th  place taking advantage of the Generous Handicap system, time 50.18, his wife Sue finished in 63mins and 2nd lady overall.

Staveley Stampede 10 miles Road Race - nr. Harrogate - 31st August
The Staveley Stampede road race lived up to its name with runners  going in all directions.  The Race, billed as 10 miles, finished up being 12 miles instead due to a marshalling error but no extra charge was made to the competitors.  After a summer break Martin Randall finished in 15th place, time 80 mins, next Julia Atkinson-Tait performed well to finish 3rd lady and 1st over 40 female vet, time 83 mins, next Janet Raper in 90 mins, finally Chris Forster in 1.40.00.
