Competitions
The Club competes in the North Yorkshire and South Durham Winter Cross Country League and Summer Track and Field League.  Other events are available, such as the North East, Northern and National XC Championships as well as North East Track and Field Championships.  It is necessary to purchase a club vest to compete in these events.  Club members also take part in many other running events both locally and nationally, where the wearing of club colours is not mandatory.

The Adult section also competes off road trail races, road races, and fell races, e.g. The Tees Forest 5K series held during the summer on Thursday evenings.  This is a popular series with many club members competing.  We organize a number of social outings where transport is hired to go to a specific race after which we enjoy refreshments (and sometimes even food!).

Junior Coaching
During the winter months the Oak Leaf Sports Complex hall is hired to introduce children into athletics.  This session is from 17:55 until 18:55, with groups organized according to their ability.  These sessions are aimed at 10 year olds and over.  Under tens are allowed but this must first be discussed with the coaches and, also an adult must stay with them throughout the session.

Commencing April, the group meet at 18:00 in the Oak Leaf Complex foyer, with sessions taken around adjoining areas until 18:45.  Thursday sessions are held at Shildon Staaadium 2000, commencing 18:00 until 18:45.  Parents are encouraged to become involved in helping out or joining in with the activities.  The same guidelines apply for the track, with parents ensuring they are back 5 minutes before the session is due to end, to pick up their children.  Every attempt is made by the coaches to make it enjoyable for your children, but should there be any problems or concerns please contact one of the club officials or coaches.

All the Club’s coaches are subject to a Criminal Records Bureau screening.

Risk Assessment
Detailed risk assessments of all coaching activities have been undertaken to ensure the safety of participants.
These assessments cover sessions in the gym, on the road and on the track. All members are required to familiarise themselves with them - click here
to see.

Subscriptions
Club subscriptions are payable on joining and are renewable annually in January.   Club members are registered with the North of England A.A., and for event purposes are then “Attached Runners”, which makes entry to events cheaper and earns discount on purchases from many sports retailers.

Rates for 2008 are:-

£1-00 is paid for each training session to help towards
the cost of hiring the gym and track
