We are a small friendly club which welcomes members of all ages and abilities.
Our aim is to develop an individual’s fitness and athletic ability in an enjoyable and safe environment to the point where he/she may choose to compete on equal terms with athletes from other clubs. A winter and summer fixture list is produced each year along with a monthly club newsletter. Non-competitive members who enjoy the fitness aspect of training are also welcomed and encouraged.
So - whether you are just wanting to improve your general fitness, are an aspiring Olympic athlete, or fit somewhere between the two, why not come and join us?
The Club has a number of qualified coaches who are able to advise on appropriate training to meet individual needs.
In Winter we meet each Tuesday evening in the Oakleaf Sports Centre, Newton Aycliffe, with an indoor gym session from 6 - 7, and then an outdoor running session from 7 - 8. Some members come for one session, some for both. In Summer there is no gym session. We also meet on Thursday evenings at the Sunnydale Stadium, Shildon, from 6:15 -7:15, for a track session, usually in three graded groups.
Just turn up on either day and introduce yourself!
Training runs are sometimes held on Sunday mornings and these are advertised through e-mail or announced at the coaching sessions.
Junior (10 years and older) coaching sessions are also run by the Club's coaches. Further details will be found on the General Information page.
Detailed risk assessments of all coaching activities have been undertaken to ensure the safety of all participants.
